WHAT SHE DOES: Rayer and her team are in charge of the Dean’s Lecture Series and the Distinguished Alumni Lectures—the highest profile speakers who come through the school, from Jack Welch of GE to Andy Grove of Intel. Alumni who want to host a dinner featuring the Dean contact Rayer and her staff, who organize the event. Rayer and her staff are also in the midst of planning events for the Wharton 125th anniversary, which lasts from 2006 to April of 2007.

NUMBER OF EVENTS PER YEAR: Between 35 and 45.

BEST PART OF JOB:The people, of course ... and the travel. "We're in L.A., San Francisco, Russia, China—all over places that I never thought I would go," says Rayer.
