At Work With...Brooke Duffy

WHO SHE IS: Assistant Director, Donor Relations, School of Arts and Sciences.

YEARS AT PENN: 2 1/2

WHAT SHE DOES: Duffy’s area of responsibility is stewardship. Specifically, she writes to donors to update them on what has been done with their financial gift. That includes reporting on scholarships and fellowships, as well as special institutes and projects, such as the recent renovation of Bennett Hall.

NUMBER OF EVENTS PER YEAR: Between 35 and 45.

BEST PART OF JOB: “Being able to step back and look at the overall workings of the School. It’s so impressive, especially with the undergraduates, to see the projects they’re working on at such a young age, like cancer research and archaeological fieldwork.”

NUMBER OF REPORTS SHE WRITES PER YEAR: Close to 300.

Downtime?: It’s rare. “The whole myth of the summer slow time never happens here.”
