Artistic gift

Two generous gifts from Katherine Stein Sachs CW’69 (an ICA Board Chair and Penn Trustee) and Keith L. Sachs W’67 will fund a new Professorship in Contemporary Art and establish guest-curated exhibitions at the Institute of Contemporary Art.

The professorship will strengthen ties between Penn’s Department of Art History and the ICA. The guest curators funded through this gift will organize and present major exhibitions in the ICA’s main space. The curator will also deliver lectures, work with students and help produce a catalog to accompany the exhibition.
On top of this, the Sachs gift sets aside funds for contemporary art programming at Penn, including seminars, conferences, lectures and performances.

Fighting the flu

Roll up your sleeve for your annual flu shot. Carried out at locations in the School of Engineering and Applied Science, the Wharton School and the School of Nursing, the flu shot program is being offered by Human Resources and Occupational Medicine. Shots will be administered on Nov. 9, 14 and 15 from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Registration is required, and slots are filling up quickly. Go to www.hr.upenn.edu/quality/wellness/flushots to register online or call Human Resources at 215-898-5116. The cost for the flu shot is $20. Be sure to bring your PennCard and confirmation form (available after online registration). For those who can’t make it to one of the on-campus sessions, go to the website of Maxim Health Systems at www.findaflushot.com or call 866-466-2976 to find one of more than 20,000 locations nationwide. If you are covered by Penn’s Aetna HMO plan, bring your Aetna ID card and pay just $15 for your flu shot. Otherwise, the charge is $25.
