Ahead of the Current

Penn opens its 130th season of football this year, and the Quakers once again figure to be in the hunt for the Ivy League championship: According to the Ivy League preseason media poll, Penn is predicted to finish second in the League. Of course, that’s only a prediction, and the Quakers, led by tailback Joe Sandberg (pictured at left), expect nothing less than a League title. One of the season highlights will be homecoming weekend (Oct. 28-29), when Penn takes on defending Ivy champs Brown. The Bears are now looking for their first back-to-back League titles: With senior linebacker Zak DeOssie and quarterback Joe DiGiacomo returning, they may do just that.

Penn takes on Brown on Oct. 28 at Franklin Field. For more information, visit www.pennathletics.com.
