Bobby’s Burger Palace

WHAT: Opened in early April, Bobby’s Burger Palace (BBP) is the new burger joint from Chef Bobby Flay, located at 3925 Walnut St. in the Radian. BBP presents 10 signature burgers inspired by Flay’s travels throughout the United States. The burgers are made fresh while you wait.

WHO: A graduate of The French Culinary Institute, Flay is a world-famous chef with restaurants in New York, Las Vegas, Atlantic City, Connecticut and the Bahamas. The author of nine cookbooks, he also is a Food Network star.

WHEN: The burger shop is open Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, 11 a.m. to midnight; and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.

ROYALE WITH CHEESE: The Bobby Blue Burger comes with blue cheese, bacon, lettuce and tomato; the Miami Burger is pressed with ham, Swiss cheese, pickles, mustard and mayonnaise; the Santa Fe Burger includes queso sauce, pickled jalapeños and blue corn chips; the Philadelphia Burger is topped with provolone or whiz, griddled onions and hot peppers.

HOLD THE BEEF: Don’t eat red meat? Choose instead ground turkey, chicken breast or a burger served “topless,” stacked on a bed of greens without the bun. You can also get your burger “crunchified,” which involves topping it with crisp potato chips, at no additional cost.

“I’LL GLADLY PAY YOU TUESDAY…”: Prices range from $6.50 to $7.50 for burgers and $5.50 to $8.50 for sandwiches and salads. French fries cost $2.50; sweet potato fries and beer-battered onion rings run $3. Fountain and bottled soda costs $2. There are no value meals at BBP so be prepared to purchase side items separately. There is, however, a Kid’s BBP Burger Deal for children 12 and under. For $6.50, children get a burger, kids’ French fries and a kids’ soda.

GO MEAT!: BBP does not have any vegetarian burgers, but they do offer a griddled cheese sandwich and a crunch salad with chopped vegetables, romaine, crispy tortillas and white cheddar cheese covered with balsamic dressing.

TAP THE BOTTLE: Beer and wine are also on tap at BBP; enjoy Budweiser, Miller Lite, Yuengling Traditional Lager, Sierra Nevada, Anchor Steam, Dundee Honey Brown and BBP red or white wine. Looking for something a little more fruity? Try the Frozen Cactus Pear Margarita for $4.50.

YUM YUM: For dessert, try $5 milkshakes and malteds with or without real whipped cream. Flavors include vanilla bean, dark chocolate, black and white, strawberry, mango, coconut, cola and blueberry-pomegranate. For an extra $2.50, you can have your milkshake or malted spiked with vanilla caramel bourbon, pineapple coconut rum or mocha Kahlúa vodka.
