Penn offers a slate of events for Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day

This year Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day falls on Thursday, April 28, and Penn has prepared a full menu of fun and educational events to entertain and inspire youngsters on campus.

Faculty and staff are invited to bring children ages 9 to 15 to the University for the day, where they will have the opportunity to get their own Penn KidsCard and a coupon for 20 percent off any one children’s or youth item at the Penn Bookstore.

To make sure youngsters enjoy their visit, Penn has arranged a full slate of activities that include a scavenger hunt at the Penn Museum; a cupcake decorating demonstration; an insider’s look at Penn’s Division of Public Safety and the chance to “Be A Dentist For a Day.”

Kids interested in science and technology can meet a neuroscientist and learn about the dangers of concussions while checking out real brain tissue under a microscope. They can visit Penn’s robotics lab in the School of Engineering and Applied Science, and learn about physics; tour Information System & Computing’s data and command center; and do fun experiments with the Society of Women Engineers.

Future broadcasters can tour the WXPN radio station, or MAGPI, Penn’s interactive video studio. Animal lovers can tour Penn Vet’s Matthew J. Ryan Small Animal Hospital. Adventurers can try their hands and feet at rock climbing at Pottruck Health & Fitness Center, and crafty kids can make Earth Day crafts inspired by the American Doll Collection at the Penn Bookstore.

A full list of the day’s activities, times and locations, and can be found on the Division of Human Resources website.

Registration for all activities is required, and begins at 9 a.m. today. To register and see the rules for participation visit the Human Resources online course catalog.
