Media training

Penn’s Graduate School of Education and WHYY have teamed up to offer a course for teachers interested in creating compelling media in the classroom. The Penn GSE-WHYY Learning Media Production Certificate Program is designed for educators of all stripes, including teachers, corporate trainers and afterschool staff.

The four-week class runs on March 3, 10, 17 and 31, 2012 at WHYY’s Dorrance H. Hamilton Public Media Commons, 150 N. 6th St. The program will be taught by Amit Das, director of GSE Films and a GSE senior fellow; Craig Santoro, director of media instruction at WHYY; and Steve Dixon and Henry Cohn-Geltner, WHYY media instructors. Participants will use basic digital video cameras and editing software, learn to script, shoot and edit short videos and discover the formal concepts of fiction and documentary film.

The program costs $750; a discount is available to WHYY members and GSE students, faculty and staff. For more information, go to: www.gse.upenn.edu/learning-media-production.
