Justice for all

On Thursday, April 5, at 5 p.m., Penn Law will celebrate the formal opening of Golkin Hall with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and an open house party. Earlier that same day, Penn Law will hold a conversation with Associate Justice of the Supreme Court Sonia Sotomayor in Irvine Auditorium as part of the dedication ceremonies. The open house and conversation with Sotomayor will be the culmination of a week of special events at the Law School, including a day of academic panels examining trends in the future of legal education and how the law guides America’s social, political, and economic future.

The building is named in honor of Perry Golkin W’74, WG’74, L’78 and Donna Golkin WG’77, the lead donors to the $33.5 million project. Designed by architects at the Boston-based firm Kennedy & Violich Architecture, the 40,000-square-foot Golkin Hall features rooftop gardens and green roofs, a state-of-the-art courtroom, and a 350-seat auditorium.
