Fellows in the House

The new year will bring a new roster of Kelly Writers House Fellows to campus. The Fellows program allows students to learn directly from acclaimed authors through two days of seminars, in-depth study of their work, and informal discussions. The authors also hold public readings at Kelly Writers House during their visits.

The 2013 Fellows include a poet, a journalist, and a film and television writer/director.  John Ashbery, considered by many to be one of the greatest living poets in America, will be on campus Feb. 11-12. Janet Malcolm, journalist and longtime contributor to The New Yorker magazine, will be at Penn March 18-19. Rodrigo Garcia, who created, wrote, and directed the HBO series “In Treatment,” and also directed several independent films including “Albert Nobbs,” comes on April 22-23. Garcia is the son of renowned novelist Gabriel Garcia Márquez.

During each Fellow’s visit, a reading will take place on Monday evening. Those interested in attending must RSVP to whfellow@writing.upenn.edu.
