Does Penn offer employees any career development?

Dear Benny, I like my current job at Penn, but I want to move ahead at work. Where do I get some advice on how to do that?

Dear Career,

You’re in luck: Penn’s Division of Human Resources (HR) offers a wide variety of career development and skills improvement programs to help you advance both personally and professionally. You have access to on-site programs, online training, free career coaching, and tuition benefits, to name a few.

The University’s professional development programs include topics such as assertive communications, how to build a great resume, negotiation techniques, and time management. Check out a new video on the HR site to hear how several Penn staff members have grown and developed by taking advantage of these programs.

You can also use a great on-site resource with the Career Coaching program. Meet with a coach for free, confidential sessions to help you assess your skills, learn how to grow in your current role or move forward at the University, polish your resume-writing skills, and more.

If you’re thinking about your next job at Penn, view hundreds of available positions on the newly upgraded online jobs site.

Penn’s generous tuition benefit helps eligible faculty and staff pursue their educational goals by providing access to a Penn education at minimal cost. The benefit covers 100 percent of the tuition, general, and technology fees for up to six course units per academic year—for undergraduate and graduate coursework.
