ENVIRONMENTAL DISASTER

For 20 years, oil companies dumped 18 billion gallons of toxic waste in Ecuador’s rainforest. “Oil & Water” portrays this environmental disaster from the unique perspectives of young people at both ends of the spectrum—Hugo Lucitante fights for the survival of his Amazonian tribe, while David Poritz, from Amherst, Mass., attempts to revolutionize the oil industry with a fair trade certification system. The film will be showcased at the Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts, as part of this year’s On Screen/In Person Film Series.
