How long have you been at Penn?
Two years.

Tell me about your office space.
“I work in the Hub room right now, which is named after the Hub, the central planning organization of the Writers House. I sit there, students sit there, we have administrative assistants who come in, and it’s supposed to be, in a sense, the ‘hub’ of activity.”

What sort of work do you do?
“I have a couple different jobs. I help come up with programming, I plan events, and probably the biggest part of my job is, I function as a staff manager. We have more than 25 work study students and volunteers with great ideas who come through, and I get to figure out how to put them to work. I get to really connect with students, which is awesome because you couldn’t possibly find a brighter, more engaged, creative group of people.”

What is the most unique aspect of working at Kelly Writers House?
“It’s interesting to leave home and then come to a home—and this place is very much a home. It’s a home to students who work here, who study here, for those who participate here. It’s a home for the staff definitely, and the faculty who teach here. So I don’t have to leave home to go to work, which is pretty wonderful.”
